Is a major in Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing a good choice?

I have an interest in both areas, but I feel that a major in Psychology would open more job opportunities than Creative Writing. I want to major in Psychology and minor in Creative Writing when I go to college but I was wondering if that was a good choice. Like, will that minor be of any use to me in my career in Psychology? Or should I choose a minor more beneficial, like Biology or History? I plan to be a social psychologist BTW.

Hi there! I think if you want to pursue a career in Psychology, I would perhaps choose related fields to give you an added advantage as well as additional and related knowledge. Maybe what would help is if you try downloading/reading some materials on a career in Psychology and see what else might be beneficial in terms of courses or programmes at a college. Also, have you considered talking to a guidance councilor at your school? They can also provide you with some additional information and insights. In addition, maybe try going to a local college (if this is possible) and try seeing a career counselor there as well. Alternatively, check out prospective college websites and have a browse through the requirements which might give you some more ideas as to which fields might be good to have a look at. Try to come up with some combination of programmes and try going over it with a guidance counselor and see what he/she says.

    Hope this helps a bit!
