Is coming out through email kind of "cowardly"?

My plan today was I was going to tell my mom I want to see a therapist, but I know they'll be questions like "What do you need therapy for?" Or something along those lines anyways. I ended up chickening out, and not saying anything. Now I'm considering just writing an email with the therapist I want to see.
Should I add anything else to go along with it, such as how I'm feeling (anxiety, dysphoria) or just keep it simple?

Coming out is really scary. Specially the first time. So what ever means you use is ok.

Personally I'd write mom and request to see a therapist. Do a little research on therapist. Some are a better match for your type of situation. Ask yourself what you anxiety over.

    Later.
