So I had a crush on a (Straight) friend of mine who is also on my dive team, and I've decided to come out to him, so that he knows that part about me. The only problem is that I am not sure if I am ready for my entire dive team to know, and I know that this one boy will likely spread it, and my team will likely find out, so I don't know if I am willing to do it yet. However, I really am ready to come out to him, and some of my other friends. I don't know, it's complicated. Any advice?
Well, you could be honest and up-front with him about your desires to keep it undisclosed to others for now. "Hey, I'm gay. I'm not comfortable with everyone else knowing right now, so could we please keep it between us for now?" Worst case scenario he spreads it and that will suck for like a day or two and then the hurdle of having to do the coming out yourself will be past you.
