Ok tonight my bestfriend Haley took me over to her boyfriend's house. Again I was the third wheel, but the best part is that they invided Joey, Julion, and Kaylee. But Joey sat playing the X-box while I was stuck in a dark room with the two couples. Makingout while I kindof just sat there and smiled when Haley would try to make conversation. (she knows that I'm gay) So does this happen a lot to anyone else?

I'm pretty much the poster child of third wheels everywhere. Sucks.

Oh do you have the friends that start makingout infront of you, even though you are talking. I just start saying random stuff like "I hid an elephant under my bed" just to see if they are listening.

Haha, that's funny about the elephant.
I've always been a third and fifth wheel. PRobably because I avoid relationships.
I've never had friends make out infront of me, that's highly awkward. I'd try to leave the situation.

Whenever I'm at a party it's always because I'm tagging along with a friend, I never really feel like I'm "part" of the party. I never have a partner at my side and I'm always the most quiet. I'm so antisocial...Sometimes I see the advantages of it as I'm the type of guy who sits in his room all day and enjoys watching DVDs or surfing the web. But whenever I'm around other people who know how to interact with others I feel like I've failed one of the easiest classes during grade school or something. I'm the exact definition of third-wheel at these gatherings.

    *Sigh*

I'd be curious to see what happens when you take one place and then put a lot of third-wheels in there. Would probably be a great situation to take notes from if you're a psychologist or into the study of human behavior.

It's either the most boring thing ever or off the hook crazy. I can't see how there would be middle-ground.

Most of my friends when I was you age were pretty churchy. So instead of making out they would just sort of snuggle and stare at each other which I think might be even more awkward.

Now it is more of a "I get invited to go off with groups of people where I only know like 1 person and they talk about stuff I don't know." Or New Years I was commenting on how I was bored to a friend. She responded with "Well, you could have gone to that party we were invited to." Yeah, "we" weren't invited. She was invited and needed a ride so I got the invite by default. Nothing like walking into a room thinking "yeah, we didn't hang out then, we don't hang out now, but tonight we are going to party like we did/do." I'm sorry, I just don't play that game.

    This is an excellent idea.

I have done that before. Just tell them you ate some bad food. That kind of stuff comes on quick, and people are too uptight to question matters of the gut.

If it were me I'd tell my friend that I don't feel like tagging along because of the awkwardness. Being in that type of situation, for me that is, would only reinforce my negative outlook on my confidence and low self-esteem level. I would appreciate that my friend tried and I would express as much.
