I am going to come out to some long term family friends sometime in the next few days. I want things to go well as this is a relationship I really care about, but I am concerned because they are very religious and conservative (one of their older sons is exited about voting for Ted Cruz next year). I'd like to think that as they see us as family that they would be accepting, but I know that's not realistic. I'm trying to figure out how I should be prepared when I talk to them. What has been helpful in others' experiences with religious family members?
