has anyone else got a response to coming out that is positive but with slight dictation to who you should date E.g. -Its great your gay, we always suspected, just don't be bringing a camp guy home will you? haha! So its all positive and in jest - but the more you think about it the more insidious it seems with the underlying tones of 'ok be gay - but make it good/don't embarrass us/yourself I also know a Lesbian friend whose Parents had a similar reaction when she came out - and took her out to 'celebrate' for coming out... her mum later pep-talked/bantered with her by saying 'just don't be dating one of those lesbians that look like a man' - now my friends girlfriend was actually quite butch - and she felt like she was right back in the closet again!
Don't know what to say, but you didn't have any other responses. Glad they were sorta positive. Maybe they just need time to get over themselves.
