Will being openly queer help with my situation?

I'm not very open about my sexuality. Mainly because my sexuality is confusing. Unfortunately I've been asked if I have mental disorders that I don't have. It's very hurtful. I'm guessing I get asked about those disorders because something seems different about me and the most convenient thing to blame it on is a mental disorder. I'm thinking that being openly queer will put a stop to these accusations. Mainly because they'll blame odd things about me on being queer instead of random mental disorders.

I'm not sure if being open will help your situation, especially not knowing what kind of reactions you may get. You can't really know if it's going to turn well or for the worst. Just make sure your ready and prepared.
