so after reading the thread, dads, ive decided to make a scale to see where your dad would fall.

    0----5----10

on that scale (really basic, isnt it?) even though this may b hard to do, just take a wild guess: where does your father fall?
0=unaccepting, most likely no love, disappointment (hopefully nobody's dad is here)
5=unaccepting of the gay factor, but still loves you
10=accepting, loves u, supports your lifestyle entirely

now, this only applies if your dad knows, but u can put where u think your dad would fall when he finds out. obviously, u can use 1, 2, 3, etc. and put your mom on it as well if u want. mine is at like 5. still loves me, but he hopes ill change, which i wont.

I guess my parents would be somewhere around 3 - they'd never accept the gay-thing - would certainly be disappointed, but wouldn't drop all contact with me.

he knows i am gay and still loves me but conversations about it freak him out a little i can tell.

    mom = 10
my mother is wonderful she loves me more because i told her i was gay and we even talk about my sex life and all facets of men together

I AM a dad, so speaking from my standpoint, I would give myself a 20 out of 10. That goes for my wife, too. And I would be that even if I wasn't who I am.

    My mom: 11/10
My grandfather (her dad) was gay, so I have that on my side.

    My dad: 7/10
He's accepting, but it would make things extremely awkward between us. Also, slightly amusing.

My dad is probably a 7 or 8. I can tell he is a bit uncomfortable talking about it, but he still fully supports me and will pay for me to go out to the gay club, etc. He doesn't get in my way at all and still just wants me to be happy. He also tries to make an effort to talk about stuff like America's Next Top Model a bit with me when it is on.

My mom is like an 8 or 9. She is fine with my being gay but I can tell she wanted grandkids from me the most out of the kids, so is a bit dissapointed in that respect. >.<

So overall, I am very lucky with both of my parents! Thank god my entire immediate family are all democrats (except for my sister, but at least she isn't Republican, more middle of the road). My extended family are all super Republicans though. :s

Dad: a ten out of ten. Marvelously spiffy chap.
Mom: My age is a factor here, I think. But, for now- eight or nine.
    Gods, I'm lucky...

I would say my dad would make my life the hardest although I would rate him maybe a 7, he would accept but he would want to help me (which means they should allow me to do my thing and thats it...)
my mom on the other hand I predict an 8 or even a 9 although we are catholic we do remain Dutch :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: and living in a country that was one of the first to accept gay marriage does make it easier in that sence...

If you rate them that high, you might want to work on it. Speaking on behalf of a lot of parents (and not just because I'm on your team) we just want our kids to talk to us and be honest. That gives us the message we're raising our kids right.

My dad's about a 7, he never talks about it, but that also means he doesn't say anything bad about it. My mother would be a 9.
