Just remember to allow them to ask the "stupid" questions and vent, but asure them that this is who you are and you cannot change or be changed.

Your mom may even cry and they may even say things they don't mean, just remember that you had your whole life to accept it, they are only learning about it. By you allowing them to have whatever reaction they may have gets it all out and then you all can talk about anything. Please note that I am not trying to scare you, but just preparing you for what may come and how to deal with it!

Good luck. A lot braver than I am. Although my grandparents (who raised me) already suspect it as little bit, I still won't come out to family. I'm openly gay in some public places, which is LOTS of fun. I hope you get the reaction you're hoping for, either way I think you'll feel much more relieved once you get it done and over with.

Just want to offer some encouragement. I have came out to a few people over the last several weeks. One of my closest friends and my adopted mom I thought would be the worst reactions, but they have been the best! :icon_bigg Both of them don't necessarily understand or get it, but they are very supportive and not condemning. My friend knows I am trying to read some books about the subject, and so she has been looking at half price bookstores for me - very cool.(!) And my adoptive mom has asked a few questions, but they seem to be of genuine interest, not just for purposes of critiquing or anything. I was going to wait awhile to come out, but I just couldn't. I needed to tell those closest to me. My best friend is having trouble with it, but she has alot going on in her own life and struggles with personal issues of feeling the potential of being gay (so I have to cut her some slack).
