So, as of late I've been planning to come out to my parents, I know they'll take it well because they're all for gay rights, even if they don't like certain aspects of the LGBT community (i.e. butch lesbians, thankfully I'm more of a femme with a slight tomboy side and I tend to fall for other femmes so this shouldn't be an issue). I've written a sort of speech/letter and I've put it in a labelled envelope, the plan being that I'm going to give it them on my 18th birthday when they are exchanging birthday cards with me. I'll tell them it's a bit unorthodox but I want them to read it, and once they've read it I'll have to see what they say. There might be an issue because I don't know if my mum will be at work that day or not, but if she is then I'll probably give the speech/letter to them in the evening. I know that coming out on my birthday is a risky move, but with certain comments they've been making recently I feel like it will be safe to come out to them now. It's a risk, sure, but I think it's going to be worth it. :eusa_danc I'll let all you know how it goes after my birthday.
