right, before i say, well type the following i feel i must point out that my school is in no way religious other than a minority of religous students.

problem with P.S.H.E: in pshe (personal social health education) we are doing 'sexual education' (thats right, for friggin' fourteen year olds) we have so far talked about pregnancy at a ridicoulus lentgh its like listening to a freakin' porn story, we even saw a film called philadelphia about a gay man getting aids and being fired for it, it was then our teacher told us that only gay men get aids because we are an abomination and unnatural etc.

problem with philosophy and ethics; we are currently covering 'marraige' for the next 6 weeks till we break up (same with the above lesson) and the main 'topics' were marraige, relationships and civil ceremonies - we've done two; relationships and civil ceremonies, in relationships the teacher mentioned how a relationship is only when a man and woman fall in love and then become boyfriend and girlfriend, see the missing details here?

in civil ceremonies we were told how it is a 'sin' not to be married before god, but for the same sex to be married in a church is blasphemy - (my note - either way gays can't get married?)

    how should i react?
what are your thoughts and/or opinions on the above?

    Hi there! First off, (*hug*)

Well, people are bigots plain and simple. At the ripe age of 14, it's going to be really, really hard to tackle the issue. Not only will your voice be lessened because of age, but probably because of the institutionalized hatred as well. I looked at your page and it doesn't say where you live, but I'm guessing it's non-America for a couple reasons from your previous posts?

Just let it go. Unless you truly want to fight it. I don't know how school house politics work outside of the U.S. but it'll be a really tough fight especially if your entire school staff adopts the same philosophy. You can't change people, you have to let them change themselves. You have to show them how they're wrong and to open their eyes. And for many people, that takes years. Be the change you want to see is all I can offer.

I know this may not help much, but I have a ton of fun with it...so yeah.

My school is anti-gay as well, and we recently finished the porn unit (PSHE) (again, at the ages of 13 and 14...sigh), ending it all with, "Gay people are more suseptable to this, that," all that fun shit, with the addition of "God will hate you."
We're a public school, our majority is christian (and i'm not totally informed on your situation at school when it comes to the out population with kids), but there are 2 amazing lesbians I know, and during school hours, we seriously flirt it up and hang out around the gay and lesbian section of our local Barnes&Noble after school.
It doesn't help directly with the school situation, but it always helps others to be outward about your sexuality (encourages other closeted peeps to open up), and maybe things will change (they did for my school, at least :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)
Advocacy for the win!!!!! I think it's the only useful way to make a difference in the world at our age...Just get people used to it, then when we're older, we can make a more "valid" case with our words.

Sorry if this was difficult to follow...^^

First off: Religion is the bane of my existence.

Secondly: Stick to your moral guns and do what you know is right. If your teacher can't accept that love has a broader definition than:
Penis + Vagina + Marriage - Premarital sex = love
    then she is closed minded.
