I never had this happen to me, but I have a bunch of jealous of people at work for me getting an employee of the month. How should I deal with them? I just let them talk.
Just try to ignore it. There'll be a new month, new employee for them to rip on. It's how things work in most establishments with a system like that.
I would just try to ignore them, and be happy that your employer recognizes that you do good work at your job. Also consider that they may just be joking. I remember at one of the places I used to work, we always picked on whoever got employee of the month, but it was all in good fun. Well, first of all congrats for making employee of the month. Unfortunately a lot of people just resent any employee of the month that is not them. Strangely enough the people that have the most trouble with it are often the ones that would never do anything extra to deserve it either. Best thing would indeed be to just let them talk, keep doing a good job, and wait a month until they get another employee of the month to nag about.
