Alright this is probably my 2nd post in this section today, and i'm not sure if this is the right area, but advice is advice so...

My dad decided to make me the owner of a software developement section of his business. And i've really been having a hard time creating good logos so, considering this is a software logo, any advice or ideas of what i could start with.

    If any questions just ask.

While I can't give any specific advice, here are some existing software logos which may provide some inspiration.

(Also, if it were me I would have posted this in the Entertainment & Technology forum, but it's not a big deal. It can be moved by a mod relatively easy.)

i'm a graphic designer, so I can do my best to help out.
First of all, what type of software is it? What is it used for? Who are you marketing it to? What will the logo be used for (buisness cards, billboards, sides of trucks... etc.)?

oh and it might help to know that a lot of logos use either a circle, square or triangle as a base. So like Adobe for instance uses a square where as mozilla firefox uses a circle.

If I were you, I'd hire a designer to design your logo... a lot of time and effort goes into making a logo and if you dont know a lot about design, i'd suggest having someone who does design it for you. What's the company called?
