I was wondering if any of you knew of any gay politicians from the south. I know of Jared Polis of Colorado, but that is about all. I would imagine there are more out west, too. I'm from a state in the southeast, i.e. EXTREMELY conservative. Is there any hope of ever winning a political race here, or would it be better to move somewhere more accepting. If this is the case, should I seek graduate or law schools that are more well known nationally such as a school in Washington, New York, or Chicago? Any help, knowledge, or advice would be greatly appreciated! I love this site, and the support I've received!!!

Craig Lowe, and openly gay man, was elected mayor of Gainesville, Florida.
    Don't lose hope

Wasn't Mark Foley (the congressman who was diddling male pages) from Florida? I don't know if he counts since he was closeted and all but he was certainly a big ol' queen
