OKAY FIRST THINGS FIRST: I'm OUT of the closet to basically everyone in my life. My sister, my mom, my dad, my step-mom, ALLLLL my friends, everyone in my grade, and probably 3/4 of the school. If ANY random person came up to me (unless it seemed they had malicious intent) and asked em if I'm gay I'd say yes.

IM NOT TRYING TO HIDE MY SEXUAL ORIENTATION

I'll tell you why I'm trying to act straight.

    1) I'm going to a new school next year, and I want people to be surprised when I tell them I'm gay. It's fun for me. It's a great big joke. It's just a little game I'm playing. I'm not ashamed, I'm not in denial. I'm not embarrassed. I just want my new friends at my new school to have that shocked look on their face when I tell them.

    2) Straight guys are hot, so I want to act like one.

So, what little tips does anyone have? I know that you have to have your wrists line up with your arms. No gimp wrists, haha. Any tips on how NOT to speak so feminine?

Please don't tell me to just ''be who I am'' because I WILL do that and I have been doing that, and I'm fine with doing that. I just wanna learn how to act straight for superficial reasons.

    Thanks guys.

Wear loose pants. haha I have such a problem not wearing tight pants, when I wear baggy pants I feel so straight. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Wear abecrombie.
    Cut your hair short.
Hang around girls and flirt with them.

Um. yeah, that's all I got

    Going against my better judgement...

    Watch/play sports
    Flirt/hang around girls
    Don't wear anything bright
    Talk in a lower/deeper voice
    Don't be a quiet person
Talk about girls, sports, fighting, action movies, etc.

Mildly bash gays and that'll do the trick.

I love how stereotypical these answers are.

It's more about mannerisms. If you can tell a gay guy from a straight guy by his mannerisms, then you can easily do it. It really isn't just about sports and girls and such.

I find a good number of these answers offensive.

But if you want a good tip. Don't talk about Lady Gaga, Madonna, or any of that girly music.

Well, essentially his question was, "How can I fit into this stereotype?" Or at least get people to assume he's straight...of course he is going to get stereotypical answers.

The best way to act "straight" is to exclusively have sex with and/or fantasize about women

Study/look at your straight classmates behavior for a day, then just do what they do or behave the same way, I guess.

Apparently I'm the straightest guy everyone knows amongst my circle of friends and they all know I'm gay. I really can't explain how to "act straight" even though I'm apparently and expert. It is just how I am I guess.

I suppose you could just look at all the gay stereotypes and just do the opposite. Stand up straight, lose the lisp, talk in a deeper voice, dress in more neutral clothing. I really don't know. I suppose you could try talking like Walter Kowalski from Gran Torino although that may be overdoing it a bit.

I love that movie, and I think its funny how he called people zipperheads. I never heard of that term before and I thought it was random.

No one has ever assumed/asked me if I'm gay, and out of all my friends, I'm one of the most "straight-acting". Ummm....ha, I don't know what advice to give you. I watch and play a lot of sports (collegiate athlete, Celtics-Lakers game tonight, disappointing) and I talk about sports a lot (one of the only apps I've bought on my iPhone is a World Cup schedule). I do drink a lot of beer and eat a lot of meat, but that's cuz they taste good.

People keep saying here that you should hang around girls. Honestly, I have very few girl friends. Mostly just straight jock guy friends. I'm not that great with girls, lol. But that's just me.

I don't wear Abercrombie at all, I'm a pretty bad dresser, but I don't wear anything too loose. I err on the side of too tight. Ha, I do wear a backwards hat a lot. I have a buzz cut that I do myself. Please, don't gay bash, most straight guys my age don't do that at least not seriously, and if they do, they're dicks. That has nothing to do with acting gay or straight. My friends give me shit about it all the time, but it's all with a sense of humor.

Ha, I dunno. I don't have a lisp or a limp wrist. I think that's 99% of it. Ha. Good luck man and have fun shocking people.

This lovely gentleman beat me to it. If you wanna "act straight" go find a girl tonight and have sex with her.

But honestly just "act" natural. How you're supposed to be without putting on a facade.

Play sports and be a fan of a football side. You in Canada so perhaps support your local icehockey game. Anyway it appears most gay guys out there are not really into sports.

I really don't think this is a good idea. You should be yourself and not act like someone you're not. How do you think they will act when they find out you were basically lying to them just for shits and giggles? That is not the way to make new friends. I bet there's lots of people that would love to be as open about themselves as you could be. I don't want you to regret this after wards.

Lol Winnipeg doesn't have a major league team....well not yet at least. (Here's hoping)
But they do have a minor league team (Manitoba Moose)...

I still go with what I said above.

This doesn't sound like a very good plan. It may be a joke to you, but with friendship should come trust, and you are planning to betray that trust from the start. I'm not suggesting that people who are not out are bad friends, but rather that it is not a good idea to needlessly deceive when you are presently presenting your genuine self. Sometimes there are good reasons to enter new a social scene in the closet. You might want to make new friends based on who you rather than being preemptively typecast merely as the gay guy.

Seeing as most people assume that one is straight unless otherwise told, you don't have to put on an Oscar winning performance to get the job done. Hide the porn and don't talk about how hot the guys are. Have an interest that is thought of as feminine? A straight guy doesn't have to worry about it being taken to be indicative of his sexual orientation (well, unless maybe if it involves frequent cross-dressing at school) so I would advise you to play it bold and show no concern either.

    So ends acting straight 101.
