I have a date!! This guy that a friend had dated at one point suddenly started commenting on all the facebook statuses, and we started talking through chat and text.

Today I got up the nerve to ask him out and he said yes!!!!!!

Part of me feels guilty, because of the whole parents being against it and all, but as usual I will get past it.

    I HAVE A DATE!!!!!

My current dilemma: What do I tell my parents when it comes time to go on this date?

Tell them you're going out with a friend. Because you are.

Congrats! I hope it will go well!

And yeah, as Lex said, it's best to just say you're going to hang out with a friend of yours. At most, that's just omitting one detail

Here's the problem, ever since that whole me trying to come out thing when I was in ninth grade, if I say Im going to hang out with a guy friend without a huge group being there, my mom gets paranoid and starts asking a billion questions.

Then say you're going out with a girl friend >_> It's what I do...unless she plans on checking on you, and if that's the case then tell her you're old enough to not be constantly checked on (how old are you bud? It doesn't say. But yeah, seriously, this is about you being happy NOT her. Last I checked anyway.

She's asked a million questions about you hanging out with platonic friends, right? So just pretend it's one of those. Sound exasperated and say something like "Yes, I'm going to hang out with a guy. No, I won't go get married or anything without letting you know." Like you would if you were going out with a platonic friend.

However you put it (and don't go with girlfriend, that will only get your parents relaxed into thinking you might be straight), don't feel guilty about it. As long as you're doing no harm to yourself or others, it's your own life at this point, their morals shouldn't affect that. Of course you'll want them to come to terms with it properly, but feel free to make choices like this.

And seriously, can a man not have friends?

And well done on asking him!

Hope it goes well for you, and yeah just go with pretty much what everyone has said and just say you are going to hang out with a friend.
