I just did it... I sent off an Email to my Mom and my Brother saying that I "experience attraction to members of the same gender". I'm freaking out... I'm not happy yet, but I think I will be soon enough. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG :eek: Much easier said than done...
Yes, I've mostly gone the send-a-message route myself, and the one big disadvantage is the stress you experience in between when you send it and when you get a response. You'll feel better after you hear back from them. Even if they react badly, you'll be upset rather than having that horrible sick "freaking out" feeling. But it sounds like you don't think they will react badly, so even better. Congrats!
Well, when I got on Email they both were all over me, and overall it's a positive experience. They told me that they've known for a while, and I figured they had. My Mom arrived today and it seems like we never even had the conversation, it's weird. I imagine that we'll talk about it on our way to see my Brother and his kids this weekend, at which point we might talk about it again. But, a positive experience! I probably wouldn't have done it without the stories that I've read here.
