I want to come out to my cousin

    I feel I should start coming out to my family, and as an only child, the person I can trust the most is my cousin. I feel I should tell her before I tell my parents. I'm really close to her (we're practically siblings), and she's very liberal so I know she'll accept me.

    However, there is one little snag in this plan. She lives five states away. Telling her in person would cost me over $500. I don't have that kind of money to just throw around. Would telling her over facebook be an acceptable alternative?

    Yes of course! Tell her through whatever method feels best for you. It doesn't matter in the end how you did it. Do you have any reason to not want to do it over facebook?

    Coming out through facebook message or other kinds of writing is a common and effective way to tell people. Good luck!
