    Hi
So I've always been a "t-shirt and jeans and gym shoes" kind of guy. But recently, I've decided I want to dress more ummm...i don't know how to explain it...in style, i guess? lol

I don't want to be the gay guy that knows all about fashion, I just want to look nice. So for example, if I am wearing a flannel shirt and nice jeans, what kind of shoes would look good?

I'm mainly wondering about good shoes to get other than gym shoes, but any other fashion advice would be greatly appreciated as well, but keep in mind I don't want to dress REALLY gay, just a little bit more towards that direction (sorry if that offended anyone)

Yeah, I know this was a really DUMB question, but I would appreciate any advice!
    Thanks!

    Good shoes?

Try loafer type thingies. Or boating shoes. You don't have to get anything terribly fancy or expensive, you just want to stand out from the crowd of Converse's and gym-shoes.

Something smart-casual may be more your kind of thing - I don't know - but I have a pair of shoes like these - and I wear them whenever most people would wear gym-shoes. Their really comfortable, and best of all - look good with just about any outfit. To be honest - aside from my school shoes - these are the only things I wear regularly.

Oh my. i have around 30 pairs of shoes just because a nasty addiction to buy them. and i gotta say my favorites kinda look like these (Product: Geoff Rowley Style 99's, Men)

but i just got some new ones (Product: Leather 106 Moc)

and these 2 are awesome. they go with most of my clothes. i love em. i noticed that the color like the second pair of shoes goes with a lot of of other colors. and it looks really cool.. but thats just my opinion

Why not try some classic Converse All Star? They go with almost everything I wear, from classic to casual.

I also love my Dr. Martens.

I think the Doc Martins would be most suitable to go with the flannel.

For broader fashion advice, I would need to know more about what sort of activities you'll be wearing the clothes to, and maybe a little more about you generally. Everybody should not dress the same. :icon_bigg

So, what kinds of activities are you involved in?

Ohh shoe obsession - I suffer from this too - this has made me want to get some new ones! I like Dannys picks.. rule of thumb is black shoes go with everything. Skechers also make some nice casual/dress shoes that are affordable and are a bit more formal than skate shoes. Skate shoes are pretty sexy though I agree.

Lol - update - I just bought the Vans 106 Moc - thanks Danny - helped me out too! Not my bank acct tho :frowning2:

Doc Martens are f***ing awesome, and they are really comfortable too!
oxfords, wingtips, monk straps, and chelsea boots are good too
oh and clothes wise, since its winter on the northern hemisphere, layering a nice button up with a nice sweater and coat (and maybe a scarf) would work well with jeans and any of the shoes mentioned.

Wow, this is funny. I'm the gay guy that knows nothing about fashion. I have been accused about dressing the same way as when I was 20, with the jeans, t-shirt and gym shoes. I've been trying to do the same thing by dressing a little better, but I am always wondering what is appropriate for the over 30 crowd. I have been wearing vans, but someone told me there were mainly for under 25 yr old. Maybe they were wrong, but I have no idea.

I was told no white gym shoes with jeans, maybe too Jerry Seinfeld.

Maybe someone could start a thread or section for that. "Fashion Tips For the Fashion-Impaired."

I know I could sure use help.
