U can date ppl older if ur parents r okay with it. I've been in a relationship w a girl for over three years now and she was 20 when I met her. Secret relationship are stressful, trust me. But if thhis guy is worth it, go right ahead. I don't think age has anything too do with love. As long as you too can communicate well with each other and are at basically the same maturity level, it'll be a healthy relationship.

Drive over the border to Nevada.

But you can still date him, it's just no sex in California (or other states with age of consent at 18) until you turn 18.

    (b) Any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual
intercourse with a minor who is not more than three years
older or three years younger than the perpetrator, is
    guilty of a misdemeanor.

this is what confuses me though! What does this mean????????????????:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

It means that he is guilty of a misdemeanor. There's levels of criminal offenses I believe, and I don't think a "misdemeanor" is very high level. There should be another

"(c) Any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual
intercourse with a minor who is more than three years younger than
the perpetrator is guilty of either a misdemeanor or a felony, and
shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one
year, or by imprisonment in the state prison."

In adding this, they state that, if the person is more than 3 years older, they may be convicted of a felony rather than a misdemeanor.

    So, basically:

Less than 3 years apart = misdemeanor (less bad)
More than 3 years apart = felony (worse)

And then it goes into details based on the ages of the person. For example, there are different punishments based on how old both parties are. Since you are 17, he would get in less trouble than if you were 15 or 16. It also depends on the age of the older person as well.

I should be a lawyer. Haha jk I hope this is correct.

Also you're 17 1/2... not that far from 18. I honestly wouldn't stress over this. You two can date until you're 18. He won't get arrested if you don't have sex.
