I'm a bit confused with my situation... I want to date this guy but he's 17... I'll be 16 by the time he's 18 though... I'm curious... and confused... and not even sure if it'll go that far.
Well, as far as dating goes, date away! Specifically regarding sex, though: the age of consent in Michigan is 16. So if you were to date this guy and have sex right now, it would be a crime, since you are 15. However, when you turn 16, Michigan considers you an adult (at least regarding sex), so you and this guy should be fine if it gets to that point. An additional point, which I'm sure you already know... please practice safe sex. It's not a law, but it's dumb not to.
Yeah safe sex is fo deffs the way to go. My friends... er... "lose" them in my locker, jacket, ect. So it wont be an issue.
Michigan also abides by statutory rape laws. If you have sex after he hits 18 and before you do, he'll legally be committing rape. Just...be careful...
It's not illegal in Michigan. In Michigan, it is statutory rape when one party is between the age of 13 and 16 and the other party is more than 5 years older. So, as a 16 year old, it would be legal to have sex with an 13-21 year old. But, again just because it is legal doesn't mean that there aren't other factors that you should consider such as the nature of the relationship, the emotional/mental maturity of the parties, etc. And, also practice safe sex. Nazo is right you could do it if you are over 16 and he is under 18 but when he turns 18and you are still younger it would be illegal again
