I want to be myself instead of my father. My mom says that I am just like my father, but I don't want to be like my father: he's not very nice. He treats my mom like crap. I want to train myself not to be like him. I want to find out what makes me unique, what makes me me. How do I do that?
There really isn't a way for you to "find yourself" except by just living life. Of course parts of you will be like your parents, they have raised you. I'm very different from my parents and yet I have many of their expressions and mannerisms. If you don't like something about your father just take that aspect and make it better in your life. You will find yourself and will realize that you are in fact unique.
