    Hi guys,

There is a confidential coming out group run by a post-doc at my university. Is it worth going to? I go to a private therapist. On the one hand it would be nice to meet other students in my situation, but at the same time I don't know if a post-doc would really be the person to get advice from.

    Thoughts? Thanks!

I would give it a try. Maybe it will be helpful and maybe it won't. You'll never know unless you give it a shot. If you don't enjoy it or if it doesn't help you can just stop going.

You can always ask your therapist's opinion about it. He/she knows your situation better than we do.

Then again, I would say, "Go for it!". It's like a coming-out simulation, except there isn't any repercussion that you have to worry about since it is confidential. The only thing I would be worried about is that it might be boring/waste of time if the meeting is handled poorly or the attendance is very low. However, that isn't that big of an issue.

    So go for it!
