I read the blog of John Shore, a really cool, lgbt quality fighter and Christian ally. Sometimes he responds to letters people write him in his blog.

Recently, he responded to one I wrote him about viewing pornography, as a gay Christian woman... His response is worth checking out if the topic is of any interest... and some of the comments are too!

There's nothing wrong with pornography. The only people who say such a thing are the same ones spouting the disgusting rhetoric that sex is exclusively for procreation.

There are, however, ways that pornography may be misused. Producers often exploit participants and consumers often overuse it. Neither makes the mere act of shoving a camera in an active bedroom immoral, though. If you're concerned about exploitation, watch some amateur videos. If you're overdoing it, trim back a little bit.

If you're like me, you'd take the high road and be an active erotic art enthusiast instead. Porn really doesn't do much for me but I love it when something erotic has an artsy air to it. It's just better done and higher-class in my opinion. And what's better than a really good sex story, let's be honest here.

Oh my gosh! That was awesome! I think I just found a new idol to look up to. There is a blog I would follow!

Anyway, this is very interesting as I often wonder the same thing. (Well not that it's a sin - I'm not religious, but more if it's morally unacceptable). While I don't watch porn I do enjoy (and sometimes feel guilty) about reading smut fics. I didn't think it was that bad as long as it had a healthy balance with everything else in life. (And since I'm a grammar and spelling Nazi and more into lesbian smut fics, -I do read guy on guy and straight fics too - the amount of available smut drops considerably)

My opinion? I think it's up to each person themselves to decide whether porn is unacceptable for them to watch or read. Kinda like sexuality. No one can tell them what to think and they can't tell anyone else what to say or think. Basically as long as no one is getting hurt then whatever a person deems is fine is fine. I hope this made sense. Thanks for listening to my rambling!

Thanks for your replies guys! I agree that it is really only "bad" when folks get taken advantage of. I don't watch that kind of thing. I do find myself searching for 'amateur', because it is more realistic also. Although, sometimes there are ads for other things that I see that I find disturbing. :frowning2:

Trixxster, do you find the fics you read online, or are they actual books? I'd like to try reading some stuff, but I'm never search what to search for.

I read online which is probably why find stuff I actually enjoy is so hard, because there is few well written ones. If you want to find some, I suggest either fanfiction.net if you like fanfictions (pick the category you want fanfics for and then change the age rating to M or all and choose which characters you want to focus on. Usually the summaries can give you a good clue as to how well written it is) or if you like original stories I'd suggest fictionpress.com (possibly .net) but sometimes it's harder to find the specifics there. I don't completely recommend it but DeviantArt has some good stuff too every once in awhile.
