Does anyone have a specific song that they like to listen to that cheers them up or gives them hope? I think it'd be nice to share so people who are going through rough patches can maybe listen to these songs too, and they might help them feel better. Songs I listen to when I'm feeling down are Cough Syrup by Young the Giant, Eclipse (All Yours) by Metric, Firework & Part of Me by Katy Perry, and Valerie by Naya Rivera. Some have messages that help me get through the rough patches and others are just upbeat and fun, and always put me in a good mood. What about you all?
Your Ex Lover Is Dead - Stars is a beautiful song and I think it's about getting over someone, so in that way it's helpful (and it's not as morbid as the title suggests) Young the Giant are amazing! :icon_bigg
Tokio Hotel - Don't Jump (lyrics) - YouTube Easily one of my favorite songs, and one of the most meaningful songs in my collection. This song has pulled me out of some really dark spots. For me, it's message is, "I know you're feeling really, really sad right now, but I promise you, things aren't actually as bad as you think they are. Stay strong. Please don't jump." Tokio Hotel - Zoom Into Me lyrics - YouTube While I can concede that his voice might have the potential to annoy in the chorus of this song, this song really helped me though some very stressful times in my life. The message it gives me is, "If you're feeling lonely, overwhelmed, jaded, or defeated, I'll be there for you." I know, it's kinda sappy, but hearing Bill say that has made me feel better many times. Though sometimes, I instead interpret the line, "When you can't breath, I will be there, zoom into me," as meaning, "If you're feeling overwhelmed, focus on yourself and what you need right now. It's okay to need to look out for yourself." Pink fucking perfect - YouTube This one helps me feel better when I'm in more of an ambivalent mood. The message I take away from it is, "You're not perfect, but you're more than good enough, and don't let yourself or anyone else tell you otherwise." Riverboat Gamblers - Don't Bury Me...I'm Still Not Dead w/ lyrics - YouTube This has to be one of the most inspirational songs I know, and it can put me in a really good mood. It basically says, "To all the disparaged people, to all the outcasts, to all the freaks, to all the people who feel hopeless, scream it out: I'm still not dead! Don't bury me yet!"
i tend to listen to a bunch of the glee covers of songs. for me pretty much anything with Brittany/Santana cheer me up. Usually when I Wanna Dance with Somebody comes on, a huge dorky smile forms on my face.
I don't know why, but I find Emilie Autumn's "By the Sword" really comforting/calming. I've always dreamed fantasy, and I guess it fulfills that. I love the Christian song "Arms of Grace" by Beth Croft as well, since it's about God finding us when we're "wandering in the rubble of yesterday's hope". "Jennifer's Rabbit" and "The Marvellous Toy" are beautiful and good fun, respectively, and I've listened to them all my life so they're comforting.

For me the one song is This Year - The Mountain Goats: The Mountain Goats - This Year - YouTube Some parts of it are specific to being confused between childhood and adulthood, and to surviving a harsh family, but all those parts are right for me, so I love it.
