Should I out myself in an email asking for a letter of recommendation? I guess I want to explain to my professor why I wanted to take a specific class with them and how it changed my life and my perspective on my career goals.

    Thanks!

Not if you're not openly out.

    Hi

If you feel that coming out would be relevant in your letter, I would say sure. Based on the school, most professors shouldn't have a problem with you coming out or anything, if that was worrying you.

    Good luck!

Hi there! If you feel that you would get a positive reaction and a better letter of recommendation that would allow you to take a specific class, sure why not? If you feel comfortable with it, I'd say go for it!
