So a while back I talked to a local vet about working there doing small things and was told they weren't hiring. Long.story short I had told my neighbor about this and she went out of her way to ask the vet about possibly hiring me and even put a good word in for me. I called the vet and was suppose to get a call back but haven't. long story short I need to call again to make sure they haven't forgot about me but I haven't really had much motivation to work or do anything because I've been having a lot of depression ,etc I feel terrible, my neighbor put in a good word for me to a vet that wasn't even going to hire so I wouldn't even have this possibility if it weren't for my neighbor and now I don't even want the job.

I would go for it. Getting out and netting new people will keep you occupied, boost your self esteem and will help you towards recovery.
