Would identifying as a panromantic heterosexual be considered queer or?

Hi guys, I know I seldom post on here but this has been bothering me for a while now so I kinda in need of some answers here.

Like, I know that "queer" itself has been used as a slur against gay/lesbian or sometimes trans* people, right? But at the same time I've seen it being used as an identity for some people who don't quite fit in the gender binary/sexuality spectrum. So, I was wondering if I should use it because having a mismatched orientation like panromantic heterosexual seems to somewhat fit this description of "queer" in my opinion.

It depends on the person, but I personally think that queer is a general term for all LGBT people. Queer is just easier to say than LGBT. Also, I would consider anything other than heteroromantic as queer too, but that's just me.

I'm also panromantic, by the way. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yeah that's what I figured too but from what I've read on Tumblr is that if you're cisgender and heterosexual then you cannot call yourself "queer" no matter what your romantic orientation may be. So I'm more or less confused on this identity situation thing.

I always thought queer meant anything but "regular" straight (that being heteroromantic, heterosexual, and cisgendered). So considering you're panromantic, I'd say yes, you're queer :icon_wink

Lol so wouldn't that make me a queer heterosexual then? Is there even such a thing as that?

I don't see why there can't be. Ultimately, it's up to you what you call yourself.

there are so many combinations or romantic and sexual orientations. I would say it is easier to say you are queer if you are anything other than heteroromantic and heterosexual. Queer is just a general term so yes I would consider you queer

Yeah of course there is. How about heterosexual transgendered people? Wouldn't you consider them queer?

Ultimately though you can call yourself whatever you want to call yourself.

    Yes, it's queer.

Remember, we're not a minority sexual orientation grouping. We include minority gender identities and romantic orientations as well.
