ok well we're moving to austin (texas) way soon (this coming friday) and i was kinda thinking about coming out to my mom on the drive there what do ya thinkkkk?? im super scared but i kinda wanted to start off in a new town RIGHT (you get what im saying) im pretty sure she'll be okay with it and she prolly already knows lol, and shestalked to me about my lesbian cousin and she was all like "it's a hard life-changing decision but id be ok with it if you were..." or something like that but she def hinted heavily but still.... help? :help:
If you feel that you want to then do it. If she already told you she'd be okay with it, then you shouldn't have too many problems.
Well she sounds like she wouldn't care and it would probably help with your "starting out right thing" but in the end its really up to you
Generally, I would recommend not doing it during a time of family-stress, i.e. the holiday season, during periods of job uncertainty, while moving. Though, in this instance, your mom seems like she is considered the possibility and appears she will be supportive. I would say give it ago, as SkyTears said, she may even help with the "starting out right thing". If nothing else, you would at least have a topic of conversation for your ride.
DO IT! your mom seems like a cool person and shed be ok with it. Even though my mom seems like she would be ok with it I've tried to tell her or hinted and stuff but its hard for me just to go out and tell her. I'm sure you can though lol.
1) She said she's ok with it. 2) Austin is a liberal hotbed (it's in Texas but that city is BLUE). By the way, where are you moving from?
I would definitely tell her. I totally understand wanting to start off right in a new town. There's very little pretense about who you are, and that leaves only really coming out to your family.
It sounds like everything would be fine with telling her on the trip. Just make sure its a time when she's not stressed with high traffic or anything like that. You might want to download the PFLAG materials to take with you available under PFLAG Publications at the top of Support and Advice. Good luck!
