this doesn't sound too bad, does it? i'm actually sh*tting myself :frowning2:

i just need some support cos this is a pretty major thing (i have been having operations my whole damn life)

    (&&&) to all you guys

I think I've heared about this kind of operation which means its quite a common thing so they'll know what they're doing.
Don't let it consume your mind though, it'll all be fine

I guess if you've had operations before it's not so bad as you know what to expect. I know NOTHING about the operation you're having but I'm sure it'll be fine, and the results will be worthwhile. (*hug*)

How long will you be in hospital for, and when will you be back on here?

Can I ask why you've had so many operations? You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

You'll be fine buddy.. and if i'm right in thinking there's very little pain.

Just before Xmas I had a Lefort I Ostomtomy which basically involved them cutting under my top lip, sawing through my top jaw to disconnect it from the pallet and then moving that in to a new place slightly forward, plating and screwing it in place.

If it's your top jaw I'd assume that they'll probs go in the same way which means they'll be stretching your nerves and moving them out of the way... which means you just feel numb and tingly for a few weeks after whilst they're shrinking back. Oh and there will be some swelling, but it dies down after a week or so. Overall not that bad at all!

    Good luck by the way

Damn man, good luck. I hate having even needles around me, but having people cut into me? No thanks.. definately a no-go for me.

i go in on thursday, and the doctor said i could be home by friday but its more likely saturday. and after the op, i'll have 6 weeks off, which means that i'll probably be on here constantly lol
i'm having it because i was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, which is basically a BIG gap in the lip and palate.

and applovr, that's probably the best reason i've heard for having the operation!:roflmao:

oh yeah and jamie, i'll be on a steady diet of paracetamol, ibroprofen (sp) and coedine, so it (hopefully) won't hurt too much. *crosses fingers*

Good luck - hope it is all straight forward and as pain free as possible.

I imagine the results should make the discomfort worthwhile

This is totally random and offtopic, but you're operation date is my dad's birthday. Good luck with the operation, it'll all be okay.

well, if its surgery, ask to be knocked out and it will feel like only a 5 minute procedure.
