I read a few threads on EC where people have mentioned online friends. I was wondering how do you find online friends in particular LBGT online friends? I know that you can't reply with a link or anything but I would appreciate any advice on where to generally go to find some?
lol, in some game sites that i go to, i pretty much befriend people for a LOOOONNNGGG while before finding out if they are married, gay, have kids, etc. make sure you weed out immature people and trolls

l meet mine from different sites. l'm on a few nerdy psychology forums, l was on one with mostly women but they drained the life out of me. l'm on a chatboard for a makeup site :X Lots of places.
Well you can either go down the LGBT forum/chat route, like EC etc or you can go down the mutual interest route. Like the above posters have mentioned, they have made online friends just by doing things that interest them. There are problems with both ways though. With the LGBT route, just because someone else is gay, it doesn't mean you will click or have similar interests. The only thing we all have in common is our attraction to the same sex. That's it. Then of course, the problem with the other route is that you need to actually "find" the gays. If that makes any sense.
Friendships are built off of things like similarity and familiarity. So you're not really going to find friends by "hunting" for them; they'll form naturally. For example, I personally don't get close to many people online. But the few people I have, I've usually met through online games. Why? Because I like to play online games. We became friends because they also liked to play online games. If you're looking for friends of a specific criteria, try finding a hotspot for that. So if you wanted LGBT friends, look on an LGBT site, since you can assume that the people there will be LGBT. And then if you click, you click, and that's great. Note: while you can make friends here on EC, do not post any offsite contact information publicly.

I would but I'm not sure its possible as a regular member and I think it's going to be a while before I become a full member
I used to play MMO's a lot and ended up having a small group of us, all online only friends, that would always play together. I decided to come out to a couple of them and one of them came out to me in the next line they typed, I still talk to them but not much of the others. It's pretty cool who you can meet online just around the net.
You can make friends with people as a regular member, you just can't send private messages or go into the chat room until you're a full member. Consequently, since you can only share contact info in private, you can only do so as a full member with other full members.
