I hope I'm posting in the right room.. still getting to grips with the forum.. Anyway, I have had sexual encounters before with a woman, when I was 14 I had a lot of sexual contact with my girlfriend at the time. But when doctors ask "Are you sexually active?" or "Have you ever been sexually active?" what do you say when you have only had a fumble with a woman? What classes as 'sexually active'? Also, what would you say classes you as losing your virginity when you're a lesbian? It's always confused me. Thanks in advance

I'm going to move your post to the general support forum since you'll probably get more responses in that forum.

This is a really good question! I've never had a girlfriend (let alone sexual encounters), so I don't really know. But I am curious to see what others have to say.

Did you get off from another woman? Then you're not a virgin. And yes you still have to tell the doc you're sexually active if your having (fingers toys or whatever) in you. More so the gyno than the doc.

It depends on the circumstance. For girls, it's important to be open and honest. For guys - it depends.

Also, what you are going for is important. If you're having pain down there, then you obviously need to be honest.

In terms of virginity - go with your guy. If you think of yourself as a virgin, then you probably. are.

For a medical standpoint, I would say that you were 'sexually active' just in case this has any consequences down the road. For example being at risk from orally transmitted STDs/STIs. Just err on the side of caution medically.

As far as losing your virginity, that is mainly up to you to decided that constitutes that. Usually it is some form of penetration. However, some people classify it as when they were first making love. It is really up to you.

Right, thank you all for the responses .. I've never considered myself as having been sexually active because it was with a woman. Don't ask why, it's a very stupid thing to have thought. I'll have to tell the doctor next time I see her, which is soon because I've got a few health complaints :/ Thanks again

    Tell her the truth:

    Q: Are you sexually active?
A: I was sexually active with a girl when I was 14. But not since then.

Accurate information will tell the doctor what she needs to know. Always give doctors the best information you can in your medical history.

Virginity is totally imaginary. So, what constitutes "losing" it depends on who you ask and how they define it.

The whole concept is predicated on the idea that a woman loses status when a man penetrates her, while he gains status--she is made less, and he is made more. It's awful, really. Especially since the change in status is considered irreversible.
