cisgender?

Discussion in 'Coming Out Advice' started by thebrightficus, Feb 19, 2013.

  1. hi i came across the term 'cisgender' and just wanted some clarifications on a few things:

-are cisgender people basically not transgendered people?

-where'd the term get coined in?

-is it used for the sake of convenience and organization? (as opposed to just saying "i'm not trans")

    thanks!

Cis means same. So if you've been told you're male for your whole life, and you feel pretty male, you're Cisgender
It's used because any other wording gets a little offensive ("I'm normal" for example DX)
