Ok so I have come to the resolution that I should come out to my parents. If you have seen my other post you will get my angle. Right so I have always worked out from other big things in the past that my parents while being really accepting, usually respond well to something if there is some humour in there. So when and what would be best? Just a simple 1 liner that can open it up to a more serious discussion? Any ideas?
"Mom. Dad. I'm gay." Idk honestly. With important people I just said it like that. With casual friends/acquaintances, I will just start talking about guys I find cute or make a comment like that. Or I just say things a straight guy probably wouldn't. Most people come to realize without any real "coming out" being done.
Do they often ask you about girls or relationships? Because you could probably come up with a one-liner response to that that would get it across.
I'm going to make the most fabulous cake ever and cover it in rainbows. At least when I come out the whole family, and I'll have to fill it with puns and invite some people over. That would be amazing. Even if someone gets angry all they could do would be to wreck the cake, and that would make an awesome video.. Nah realistically I'm just going to say that I'm gay, but I do have a friend that builds awesome cakes :icon_wink. I might list it on FB to all my friends first and then gradually add family after I've told my parents. If they don't like me than they can go live by themselves anyways, they're all old farts nowadays and I have better stuff to do than listen to them. If they doubt me I'll just be all, well I like guys or I screw guys; try and talk your way out of that one (They all know I've never had sex with women).
I did it! Kept it plain and simple. They took it really well on the face of things. Then they took the opportunity to have a few digs at a less accepting neighbour who showed their son the door... Delighted though! Can finally just live my life now
Hi PM92, Well done (!), now as you say you can get on with the rest of your life without anything holding you back. It's great to hear your parents were so accepting. Sale Gay Guy
