    Belief

I must be loved and approved of by every person in my life.

    Coping Self Statement

I can't please everyone. I can accept and enjoy myself.

    Belief

I must never make errors or do poorly in anything I do.

    Coping Self Statement

Mistakes are stepping stones on the path to learning and growing.

    Belief

People and events should always be the way I want them to be.

    Coping Self Statement

I need to take care of myself - not everyone else; others choose their own actions and beliefs.

    Belief

Unhappiness is the result of outside events over which we have no control.

    Coping Self Statement

Outside events will never be just as I want them. I have the choice as to how I perceive them.

    Belief

I need to worry and focus on possible negative events until they are over.

    Coping Self Statement

Worrying about what might happen only helps it happen. I can change things best by constructive action.

    Belief

It is easier to avoid responsibilities and problems than to face them.

    Coping Self Statement

What we resist persists. Facing squarely up to situations makes them less fearsome and easier to solve.

    Belief

My past cannot be changed and controls what I do now.

    Coping Self Statement

I can choose how I feel about my past. I continue to change and grow; my past gives me opportunities to learn new things and grow in unexpected ways.

    Belief

I am threatened by people whose point of view differs from mine.

    Coping Self Statement

I can listen with an open mind and accept others' ideas, knowing that their life experiences are different.

    Belief

There is only one perfect solution to each problem; I must find it.

    Coping Self Statement

There are always options; if one doesn't work, another will.

    Belief

I don't have control over my emotions; I can't help how I feel.

    Coping Self Statement

The way I think influences my emotions and how I feel. I choose to alter my perceptions.

I got this at a child care training I went to the other day. I think alot of people here have irrational beliefs and I've had them myself dealing with problems. I thought it could be very helpful to alot of us.
