I'm 15 years old, female, and bisexual. Somehow, I think my mum knows about my sexuality, although I have never implied that I wasn't straight. I've only ever had boyfriends, but I don't dress in a overly girly manner. I mean, I do wear makeup but I usually wear skinny jeans, hoodies and stuff.

But today, just out of interest, I sat with my mum and I said to her 'Mum, when I was younger, did you always think as to what I was going to be like when I turn older?' and she told me that she didn't , but she knew that I would be 'different' and not be like other girls. That I wouldn't be girly. I thought she was going to say something else and then stopped.

HELP! Do parents know a lot of the time? Mum has always said that she can tell things about me, when I'm feeling down etc. It's true! I have been told in the past (not by her) that I seem quite gay...

    :help:

Well, as far as I can tell, she might know that you're at least not straight, not necessarily being Bisexual or a Lesbian. I have a friend (female) that you described quite well. Actually, she told me that at least 10 % of her clothes were from the men's section. She is not Bisexual or a lesbian, for sure, so maybe she isn't implying that you're gay, just stating that you aren't like most girls.

To answer your question, (kind of) I'm not really sure if parents usually know, sometimes they do, as some people have told, but I can't fully answer your question. :frowning2:

    Good luck though!

Actually it's so true.... and it hurts when they pretend that they don't know even if they do...! :/

Twas a shock for my mum. Mainly for the fact that I had only boyfriends before.

Oh man, I think my mom suspects something's up. I was stupid enough to ask her about baby names and what I would've been if I was a guy- add that up to my general moodiness, lack of make-up, whole bunch of other factors- and yeah...

I don't think they always know but if they're especially perceptive or you're like me and you make it too obvious, then maybe.

My mom never gave any indication that she knew or not, but she had always instilled into my sister and I that it didn't matter if we grew up to be gay or not.

When I told my mother she was completely stunned and said she never suspected it for a minute. Which I thought was odd because I was completely convinced that she knew.

Nope. My mom even caught me indirectly with gay porn (brother saw, told mom, and I convinced her it was a pop-up page redirect :astonished:) and still hasn't the slightest inclination I like boys.

My mum was completely shocked when I told her because she didn't expect it at all.

When I told my mom she said "oh so your gay?" And I asked are you surprised?
She said she was but her expression and tone were very unsurprised

My mom said she didn't suspect it at all but knew I was more caring and compassionate than other boys when I was little (e.g. I would change the channel when World Vision or St. Jude's came on because I couldn't stand looking a others kids suffering). If I was raised in a more urban, less religious home (mom came from a very small town), then she would of seen some signs. To this day (she's in her 50s), I'm the only gay person she knows other than what she sees on TV.

I haven't told my dad I'm gay yet, but he might suspect. Saw my Internet history when I was 14 and said I shouldn't be looking at that stuff (gay stuff) and I told him it was just a virus and not mine. In reality, I hadn't set Netscape Navigator's privacy settings right so I was exposed. To this day, I don't know if he knows because, to be honest, he's a bit of a Luddite; he doesn't get how to play music or turn on the Wi-Fi on his iPhone.

My parents didn't even know asexuality was possible, and they were fooled by my pseudo-crushes.
