Hey guys so I just came out to my best (girl) friend. I've known here for around 5 years or so and she is very open minded and just awesome. She asked me if I was gay probably 2 years ago and I said no since I was still confused/in denial. Most people tend to think gay guys are feminine and like to shop and she is no exception although she does know some guys that don't fit the stereotype aren't gay. I'm athletic, play soccer, a gymnast, HATE shopping, and generally don't fit the general "Gay" stereotype.

So I texted her the following

    Me: hey guess what!
    friend: what? tell me! :astonished:
Me: oh come on just guess  you'll probably be right
friend: seriously just tell me!! please?
Me: oh come on just guess you probably knew this before I did anyway
friend: I honestly have no clue what you're talking about xD
Me: well... you can't tell anyone okay?
    friend: I promise
Me: You don't know how hard it is for me to tell you this. You know how you've always wished you had a gay best friend so you can go shopping with? Well I think I'm gay. I hate that I'm this way but I've accepted it. It makes life so much harder than it has to be... just thought I'd tell you since we've promised to tell each other everything.

I checked my phone after 5 minutes but now I'm so scared and shaking to see what she replies.

First of all, Welcome to EC!
Secondly, congratulations on coming out! Seeing as she is open minded, she should be supportive so good for you. It is good that you have finally come out to someone!

    Again, congrats!

Congratulations! I came out to my best girl-friend too, girls just seem easier to open up emotionally from what I've seen.

    Hey There, May 18--

Congrats on coming out--that can be terrifying. You've probably heard back from her by now, and I hope she was supportive, as I suspect she was. My guess is that she wanted to talk to you face-to-face about it.

Anyway, I hated to see that you wrote to her that you "hate" that you're gay. I'm sorry about that. I hope you continue coming back to EC for support and advice. There's no reason to hate yourself.
