So last week, I went to work as a camp counselor at a weeklong christian camp. I knew the people I was working with really well, but I didn't really know their views on gay people. A few of my closest friends worked there with me, and they were my age. Every other counselor was in their mid 20's. Anyway's I had been meaning to come out to my close friends for the whole week, and all of the counselors and I ended up sitting around the fire talking about homosexuality. As I would of guessed, the older counselors were not for it, but they also weren't against it. However, my two friends were completely supportive. I decided to tell them that I was gay, so I went up to them as we were all walking back to our respective cabins, and I tapped them on the shoulder and asked if I could tell them something. They were completely supportive, and told me that we were all like family and it didn't change a thing. I'm just glad they didn't think I was rabid, because I was mumbling incoherently and shaking like a leaf. Anyways, they were the first two people that I told in person that I'm gay, and it couldn't have gone better!
Congratulations! What a big step for you! I am very happy that you were able to get this off your chest! And the fact that your friends accepted it means that they're true, good friends.
Congratulations. It is a huge first step and I am so glad that it has gone well so far. I hope everything else goes as smoothly for you. You have 2 very close friends that you can fall back on now
Congratulations! Happy for you that it went so well, and that your friends are supportive, and that nothing has and will change! That's wonderful!
