I just came out to my mom over the phone and it was by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life so far. She told me that no matter what she will support me to 100%... no 1000% percent :icon_bigg. And she told me that she will always love me for who I am, and that my sexuality really doesn't matter, that I am a great person and that I shouldn't care what others think, because frankly it's none of their business.

I'm feeling apprehensive yet like I can do whatever I want in the world right now. And I want to thank everyone on here for the advice and support that I've gotten since I joined here a year back!
    Love to you all (*hug*)

Thanks everyone! I don't know if it felt that great. I was shaking and couldn't speak clearly. And now I feel super awkward about it. Feels good though that I had the courage to start this journey. I decided I would do this yesterday but I never knew I'd actually come through with it. I'm happy I did, it was about damn time I did something about this life of mine

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a lot of people who weren't nervous when they started coming out, especially to their parents!

And I wouldn't worry too much about the awkwardness. I remember feeling the same way after I came out. For me, the feeling went away pretty soon after.

Yeah, it's not weird I was nervouss considering the time it took to prepare me for today

Right now with the awkwardness and all it almost feels like i was dreaming. I can't believe I actually did it!

I was really happy at how she ended the conversation with something as casual as talking about skiing. It really surprised me how quick she went from shocked to casual. Ohh and I asked her if she in any way suspected my "being gayness" but she said no. Which also surprised me. I always thought she knew, I guess I was wrong assuming that. She said I don't act "gay" which I responded to with something about "stereotypes are horrible" (not quite in such a harsh way). I can't believe she of all people didn't know gay people don't necessarily act feminine. She with a lesbian sister.

Then she also told me how when she was younger she thought being gay was something that you could change. This only goes to show how important education is. She would probably still think so if not for her lesbian sister. Anyways, I'm lucky to have such a supporting mother and I can't stress how excited I am for the future!
