Hi My Mum told my Dad I'm gay this morning. Apparently, his first words were "oh, does she have a girlfriend?" So yeah, it went well Obviously, I was terrified, but it was all for naught, because turns out both my parents are cool with it (way more than I ever thought they would be), supportive and just want what's best for me. I feel like I've cried Niagara Falls in the last few days, but now I just feel immense relief. My Dad even gave me a hug, and that usually only happens on my birthday and Christmas (he's not the 'show your feelings' kinda guy) so I'm over the moon with their acceptance I just wanted to share. Sometimes, your mind can go to the worst case scenario when in reality, things can work out just fine. I'm not saying that it makes coming out any easier, it's still hard as hell because you never truly know how someone will react until you tell them, but even with the support of one person, it can help your confidence. So best of luck to everyone still yet to come out to their parents/loved ones. I really hope they take it well and are supportive, because you all deserve that (*hug*)
My dad curses out gay marriage he sees on TV all the time. I am so not coming out until after I move out!
Oh I'm so sorry to hear that :icon_sad: Hopefully, in time, he can come to accept it. In the meantime, know that there are thousands of people on here who support you (*hug*)
They are EC has been a big help to a lot of people. If you ever need to talk, don't hesitate to post a thread or reach out. There are loads of people willing to listen and advise in any way they can, myself included (*hug*)
