So I was toying with the ideal to come out to my brother around Thanksgiving, but I wasn't sure if he'll be okay with and had my doubts.(You can read that thread here) Problem was, I couldn't get him alone long enough to tell him and Thanksgiving came and past with no progress on the coming out thing. Well...

I had a feeling that today I was the day I was going to tell, I had a really good feeling about it. He came to pick me up from work to take me home and we started talking like we normally do. I was telling him how I had reasons that I wanted to move out of our parent's house and he asked me "oh is it because you want a girlfriend?" I said no, and than, he asked "is it because you want a boyfriend?" I was sort of shocked, so shocked that I couldn't really say anything, and he then went on to talk about something else. This pretty much solidified for me that he at least suspects that I'm gay and he's okay with it.

So we pulled into my drive and we talked a little more. Let me tell you, even when you know that they are going to be 100% supportive, it's still really hard. I pretty much fumbled with my words for about five minutes until he pretty much figured it out, but I wanted to say "I'm gay" just to prove to myself I could say it to another human being, and I eventually did. He was really supportive and he said that it doesn't matter and that he will always be there for me. He also wasn't sure that I was, but he suspected it for a long time.

I'm really glad I came out to him. My mind has been in a pretty dark place here lately, so it's just nice that something went well for a change. Thanks everyone for the advice and thanks EC for just existing, if it wasn't for this place, I don't know where I would be.

Wow, man, that is so great! Congratulations!! You're lucky to have a great brother. I gotta say that was really cool how he just kept the convo going after he asked "is it because you want a boyfriend?" I was actually a bit nervous about what was going to happen and am glad it turned out so well.

Btw - you have a really nice way of telling your story.

@mnguy: Yeah he said it sort of nonchalantly, which honestly surprised me more then him actually saying it. lol And thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

congrats on coming out to your brother. My bro was the first person I came out to 2 years ago and it was terrifying! guess I could share my story too:slight_smile:

so ive known im gay pretty much my whole life. But 2 years ago i decided to tell my brother, hes a year older than me and my bestfriend. Anyway we were hangin out playing video games and i kinda stopped it and told him i wanted to talk about something. It took me a few minutes to finally spit it out and by the time i did i was in tears (ive only come out to a couple of people and i wind up crying everytime lol). he was just like yeah "ive known for a while, really just waiting for you to tell me." i guess about six months before i told him he walked in to my room while i was masturbating (i usually listen to my ipod so i guess i didnt notice him) i wasnt lookimg at porm online or anything but i had a magazine and he went snooping later (i guess to see if was any good and steal it... and I guess thats when he found out) but hes been awesome abouit! I
