At tonight's practice, he was talking about fear and facing one's inner demons, so I decided to just do it. We were waiting for my mom to come pick me up after practice, and I finally got the nerve to tell him. Our conversation went something like this: "Sensei, if I decided to date a girl, would you still like me?" *confused look* "Do you have a girlfriend?" "No, but if I did, would you still want me as your student?" "Are you telling me you're lesbian?" "I don't know. Probably. I'm too young to know for certain. Are we still OK?" "Oh, yeah, yeah. Lesbians are cool." He then proceeded to tell me about all the gay friends he's had... and told me there's a healthy population of lesbian Kendoists in New Zealand. I feel sooo relieved. I think I might post a cover of "She Keeps Me Warm" on my facebook tonight, because I don't feel afraid of anything at the moment. Just thought I'd share
Congrats! By the way, I like the cover song idea. It's cool that you're channeling this event into your musical abilities.
