Came out to my best friend last night. We've been friends for 12 years since our first year of college taking English. Thick as thieves and unfortunately seperated by space (he now lives back home in DC, I live in Ohio). We've been emotional support for each other still like when I had a death in the family or when he was going through a divorce. Well, I worked up my courage after making a remark that someone in a band was gay and "not that it matters to me". Completely supportive and said he suspected as much anyways, nothing has changed. Still best friends (*hug*). Goes to show a close and good friend probably knows you better than you think.
