So today I came out as transgender to my sister and I couldn't have asked for a better response. I messaged her yesterday and told her I wanted to tell her something so I wouldn't get too scared to do it. She asked me and I just told her that I'm pretty sure I'm transgender. She hugged me and told me that she had thought that might be what I was going to tell her (either that or that I wanted her to take me to the gynecologist...). She gave me a binder that she had from doing a drag show in college and some boxers she used as pajamas. Then she took me out to shop and bought me new underwear, new pants, new shirts, even new cologne so I could smell like a guy. She's also going to help me get a better binder online. She even tried to call me by a masculine version of my birth name (even if I'm not sure what name I'm going to go by). She slipped up a couple times and called me by my birth name and called me her sister, but she really tried. She told me her goal was to be the most supportive sister possible and I'm so glad that I have someone to turn to who is so wonderful! I just wanted to share this because it made me feel so happy and accepted :eusa_danc
Great job it takes a lot of courage to do what you did congratulations and I wish for you the best!!! once again congrats
Brothers and sisters are a lot more loyal than we give them credit. My brother was extremely cool about me coming out and has gone out of his way to help me. It's amazing because he has scoliosis and possibly high functioning Asperger's. He attends a support group, and one of the first things he asked me was if he could bring me up to his support group for some help for me. I was and am still touched. To have such an ally while I gather the strength to come out to my parents is invaluable. He is my best friend. I keep telling him I wish there was a way to cure his scoliosis.
What a lovely sister! Quite remarkable how quickly attitudes and understanding towards transgender are changing, it's brilliant.
