As the title says... 16 years after realising I'm gay I have actually come out to my parents. Just wanted to let people on here know after people offered me support before. I managed to get my Mum alone and sat her down with a coffee to tell her. She managed well on the whole, as did Dad when she told him later. Both came out with the old lines about wanting me to be happy and Mum was very glad to hear about my LGBT social life because she always thought that I don't have enough of a social life! They have also told my 89 year old Granny who is also fine with it, having had many gay friends in her life. A year and a half ago nobody in 'real life' had a clue about my sexuality and now I have a large number of LGBT friends and groups and my family know who I am and are fine with it... surreal but great!
