I finally told my girlfriend that I am attracted to men. I did it last night over the phone, not at all like I planned, but she knew something was up and wanted to know. There was a lot of crying and she is heartbroken, but more understanding than I ever imagined she would be. I don't know what happens now, but we have agreed that no matter what we will remain best friends. Thank you so much to everyone here for all your support and advice!
