It was easier than I thought. My mom needs some time to get used to the idea, but she was accepting. She asked questions like "How do you know you're gay if you've never been with a girl?" "Was it anything we did that made you that way?". I don't want to disappoint my mom, but I think if I keep up being a good student, she'll begin to support me even more. She got a little emotional, but it seems like something she will eventually overcome. She's a little in denial and worried about how my family in Greece will think of me, but I think she'll get more comfortable with it in the later days. She did say some concerns about STD's, so I definitely agreed that I'd be careful with that type of stuff. She offered to take me to the Chicago gay pride parade this weekend. I think I'll go. I'm just glad it's finally over. Earlier today, my heart was racing over the very idea of this. However, she asked me today why I support the gays, and I just outright answered her honestly. We talked for a good 20 minutes until she left the room for a cigarette (probably having a small emotional release). It was just me and my step-dad wrapping up the conversation and then I left. So, here I am on the forums.
