A few days ago I came out to my parents, who are the first people that I have told. I go to school in the same city that my parents live, but I don't live with them. I called them in the afternoon to let them know I would be stopping by for dinner, which happens fairly frequently. We were sitting and talking about general things until I finally got the courage to start off with "I have something serious that I wanted to talk to you about." I got out everything I wanted to say and my parents were fully supportive, just expressing that their only worry was about how hard things can be for gay people, and reinforcing that they love me and accept me no matter what. I definitely feel better after telling them as I have wanted to for a long time, but am still very early on in the process. I'm glad to be able to share things here as I am still feeling pretty isolated.
Congratulations and welcome to EC! You did the most difficult coming-out first, you get extra bonus points for that!
Congratulations! And yes, I also think that this is the most difficult one. I can't imagine myself coming out to my parents yet (or ever...) You were very brave, I'm happy for you that it went so well
Congrats!!! That's the best feeling in the world isn't it? "I accept you and love you unconditionally."
