Came out to my sister

    I have been planning for a while to tell her and for the past week I tried calling her and left her a couple of messages. I was stressing out that she did not call me back. Tonight she called me at first I almost chickened out but I knew I had to go for it. At the end of the call I told her that I had something to tell her then I told her. I was so scared. She took it so well. She said basically that was not too surprised and she was happy for me. She was also happy that I felt comfortable enough to tell her. Then we talked a bit more and asked if I am dating anyone and told her yes.

    As we talked I asked if it ever came out in conversation with my parents or brother. She said it may have come up with my brother and she thought he would be fine with it.We talked about some other stuff but right now I can not think what it was. Things are still a little foggy.

    I am so happy right now. I feel like a ton of bricks came off of my shoulders. :grin:

    My brother is the one that I was afraid to tell the most. More so than my parents.

    Awesome dude. I am so proud of you. It takes a lot of courage to come out to someone close to you.

    It really does feel good to get it out in the open. I know the first few times I came out are events that I will never forget. It really is one of the defining moments of our lives.

    Aww, that's really good. Don't be scared man, it's family. Everybody's mostly afraid of their family's reaction, but family are the ones that have to get over it the most. My dad cried and said it was the worst day of his, and I just sat there, thinking "What am I supposed to do? Apologize? For being gay?" and I got up to leave and he hugged me and said he loved me and we talk to this day as if that convo never happened. I think you'll be fine, man.

    I'm glad to hear that your dad came around. I was scared because she is the first person in my family that I came out to. Now I am fine. I can not wait to talk to the rest of my family.
