Update! Update! My Mother has seen the light! - Empty Closets - A safe online community for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people coming out

So anyone whos ive talked to or has read some of my threads knows my mother has been very conservative in her stance on homosexuality. She thinks it is just a phase, curable, ect. The whole 9 yards. Well, since i came out to her shes always told me to "be open to changing" and all this bull that i KNOW is never going to happen. Ive stressed to her my points, but they never seemed to get through the thick outer layer of ignorance built up by her stern upbringing.

However, in the past week she watched "For the bible told me so" via youtube and "Prayers for Bobby" via another online site, at my request, and since then we have had a huge conversation about the topic. As per usual, both sides yelled and both sides cried. But, both sides finally came to an agreement. In the end she actually said something along the lines of "Greg, i know now you were born like this and that your not ever going to change, nor is it in anyones power to do so, and i accept you as you are" I dont think shes going to be jumping up and down with a rainbow flag on pride day anytime soon, but this is a HUGE step for her, and myself.

So i just want to say, anyone worried about a re-action close to what my mother had a first, feel free to PM me! There is alot more to the story and id be willing to share with anyone who wants to hear it.

I would also like to thank many helpful people, Becky and Mikey you two are great, and everyone whos been there with me on this roller coaster since ive come out to my parents.

Omg that's amazing! That's all you can really ask too. She doesn't have to go in the streets in rainbow attired, but as long as she accepts that you were born that way and you can't change and that she can love you the same is the important part. And it seems like she understands that now.

Thats so uplifting news!!! Be proud of your mum too! It sounds like she making the effort now!
Dont think my mum would ever react that way but who knows i guess!!

Yay! I think it's great that you kept the dialogue going and encouraged her to learn more. It's nice to know that people can evolve!!

I'm so happy for you. I know it's been a long,hard struggle. I think her watching the movies definitely helped. Maybe now you can relax a bit more and enjoy your life!

Yea, he has been sold. They have not come to pick him up yet, but he is officially sold. The day they pick him up im going to most likely not be able to get out of bed.
